The Opel Astra F is one of the most famous models from the German automaker, leaving a significant mark on automotive history. In different countries, this car is known by various names. For example, in the UK, it was sold as the Vauxhall Astra, as the Vauxhall brand is a British subsidiary of General Motors, which owns Opel. In Australia, the model was introduced as the Holden Astra, while in South America, it was known as the Chevrolet Astra. This diversity in names is due to General Motors' global strategy, which adapted the model to local markets.

Model Description

The Opel Astra F debuted in 1991, succeeding the popular Opel Kadett E model. It was a compact car available in hatchback, sedan, station wagon, and even convertible body styles. The design of the Astra F reflected the style of the 90s: clean lines, minimal frills, and a focus on practicality. The interior was spacious for its class, with comfortable seats and intuitive ergonomics.

Under the hood, the Astra F offered a wide range of engines: from modest 1.4-liter gasoline engines to more powerful 2.0-liter units. Diesel versions were also available, appreciated for their efficiency. The transmission was either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.
